ROOSEVELT SCHOOL STUDENTS ‘SNEAK’ AROUND… FOR A GREAT CAUSE – The Peer Leadership Group at Theodore Roosevelt School completed a sneaker drive for pediatric cancer awareness and treatment. Students in Ms. Barbarise’s Peer Leadership program and Ms. Boshell’s sixth grade class helped to organize the drive. Anabelle, one of the classmates and a peer leader, appealed to the team for assistance for her 13-year-old cousin Jovan X. Caraballo, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma last year. The school “family” collected almost 200 pairs of sneakers in less than two weeks. The sneakers will be recycled, which will help to fund research for medicines used to fight pediatric cancer. A portion of the proceeds will also go towards Jovan’s medical bills and needs.
