Description:

The summer concert season in Hoboken will start with a bang this year thanks to a unique musical journey through time and styles. On May 25, the cantors of Ss Peter & Paul church in Hoboken, all of whom are professional singers with distinguished stage credits, join forces for a free concert with arias from Handel, Mozart, Verdi, Schwartz and Schonberg, under the direction of composer and Director of Music, Matthew Still.

Over the past few years Ss Peter & Paul Catholic church in Hoboken has become a prominent center for weekly liturgical music and has hosted several concerts from national and international artists – from the West Point Cadets choir to renowned pianist Dr. Indrek Laul this season – and fundraising concerts in the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. This time, the in-house team of cantors takes the stage for an exciting line-up of musical numbers.

“We are fortunate to have a vocal team of professional singers that enrich our liturgies every week, but the talent of those well-rounded performers proves even more impressive as they sing secular music to audiences nationwide”, says Matthew Still. “We are very excited that this season they can all gather for a unique evening and bring a free concert of elaborate arias and crowd-pleasing tunes to the residents and visitors of the Tristate area”. Performers include Jennifer Giudice, Julie-Ann Hamula, Allison Hymel, Mara O’Kelly, Katie Riley, and Geoffrey Scheer. “Musical performance continues our tradition of being firmly anchored in our community and delivering a positive experience in and out of church” says Ss Peter & Paul Pastor Msgr Robert S Meyer.
