Celebrate Hoboken's baseball tradition with the Hoboken Nine, who will face the Flemington Neshanock in a special re-creation of the historic match between Alexander Joy Cartwright Jr.'s Knickerbockers and the New York Nine, played on Hoboken's Elysian Fields on June 19, 1846.

The game is Saturday, June 15, at 1 pm, at the Dobbelaar Baseball Field on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology, at 8th St. and Castle Point Terrace. All are welcome, and the event is free!

The two teams play in the Vintage Base Ball League by mid-19th century rules. The Hoboken Nine are in their second season, sporting brand-new uniforms. In their rookie season last year, the Hoboken Nine played nearly a dozen games, concluding with a winning record. The 2013 season is packed with games, nearly every weekend this summer, against other teams in the Mid-Atlantic Vintage League through November 2. Visit the team's website at hobokennine.jimdo.com for details and photos.
