MARATHONER TO ATTEMPT TREADMILL WORLD RECORD

Edgewater, NJ – On Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 7:00am to 7:00pm, Chris Solarz (age 35) will attempt to break the Guinness World Record™ for the “Furthest Distance Run in 12 Hours on a Treadmill.” The Fitness Factory Health Club in Edgewater, NJ will host Chris’s record attempt. The Guinness rules stipulate that the runner may run at any speed and take as many breaks as he/she wishes, but the event is continuous and the clock must not stop at any time for any reason.

The current record (76.68 miles) was set on December 7, 2013 by Eusébio Bochons at the Atlantide Wellness Center in Gland, Switzerland.  To surpass the current record, Chris will need to run three back-to-back-to-back marathons within the allotted 12 hour period.

Chris has considerable experience in both endurance events and Guinness World Records. He has run over 200 marathons and ultra-marathons in 38 countries around the world, including six 100-mile race. Chris has broken five endurance-related Guinness World Records, including two for marathon running, one for stair climbing, one for subway riding, and one for beer drinking. In preparation for this latest Guinness World Record attempt, Chris has been running over 150 miles a week on a treadmill, in addition to juggling his full-time job and family life.  Chris’s biggest fan, his one-and-a-half year old son Sebastien, will be on hand to babble support throughout the day, while dozens of friends and family members will alternate running with Chris on adjacent treadmills.
