12-year-old shot, killed in home of corrections officer

JERSEY CITY - Jersey City police are investigating the shooting death of 12-year-old Hasson "Hass" George in a relative's home on Randolph Avenue on Feb. 24. At the time of the shooting, the boy, who lives on Ocean Avenue according to NJ.com, was visiting family, including his 14-year-old half brother.

Police are trying to determine whether the shooting was an accident. Some reports have said that the 14-year-old half brother allegedly shot the boy. No one has been charged.

The firearm used in the shooting was reportedly a service revolver issued

to a corrections officer assigned to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. It is currently unclear how the children were able to get access to the weapon.
