The man who brought down dozens of politicians and religious leaders in the metropolitan area this summer is scheduled to plead guilty today to bank fraud, according to newspaper reports.

Solomon Dwek, the Monmouth County real estate developer who faced FBI bank fraud charges, was enlisted to offer alleged bribes to polticians running for office in New Jersey this year. Forty-five politicians and religious leaders have been arrested or indicted as a result of the sting.

Two local mayors, Peter Cammarano of Hoboken and Dennis Elwell of Secaucus, stepped down after their arrests in July.
