At last, the perceived 'reformers' of Hoboken politics have come together. After a nasty election battle leading up to this past May 12, former mayoral candidate Beth Mason held a surprise press conference Tuesday afternoon to endorse fellow council member Dawn Zimmer for mayor.
The election will be held June 9. Zimmer faces another councilperson, young attorney Peter Cammarano, in the runoff that day.
While a handful of Zimmer's and Mason's supporters have engaged in an angry war of words in the past, it seems like she has chosen her over Cammarano.
Mason also chose to endorse Zimmer's most visible running mate - candidate for council-at-large Ravi Bhalla, a local attorney.
However, rather than endorse Zimmer's other running mates, Carol Marsh (a former vice president of the HCDO, a political organization that Mason has criticized) and Dave Mello, Mason endorsed two of her own runningmates who made the runoff: Vincent Addeo and Raul Morales.
For a more detailed description of the press conference, including quotes and questions, check back here later!! And comment below.

Not only does Morales have a very thin resume (did he ever hold a regular full-time job as lawyer?), but he has no skills either. Did you watch him at the debates? He could barely read the prepared statements from the various pieces of paper that he was supplied with by somebody. The only word I have for these performances is pathetic!

"Morales has a thin resume? Think you should take another look at it or have your eyes checked."
If Raulito had ever gone on the record about ANYTHING he'd never be able to explain running with Beth one day and Peter the next. But when you have no known positions except "One Goal - Yours" switching sides is easy.
What, exactly, has Mello done in or for Hoboken?
Addeo is going to represent the City unions, not the taxpayers, if he gets onto the council. He's a high income guy living virtually tax free in Church Towers. He has a troubling domestic violence history. Those are, to me, very real and concrete reasons he's not a reform candidate, or an acceptable one at all. And watch and see him ally with Cammarano.
Morales is still a very young guy with very thin resume, Zimmer's council mates are clearly better.
beth did a smart thing. she would have really hurt her viability in the future if she'd sold out and gotten behind cammarano and he'd lost. this way if she loses she keeps a bit of respect.
