MEADOWLANDS -- Six bloodmobiles from six blood donations centers will descend on MetLife Stadium, 1 MetLife Stadium Dr., East Rutherford, for the “Blood Drive Tailgate” on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in Parking Lot E.

The community blood drive is being sponsored by the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee and New Jersey Workplace Blood Donor Coalition.

Everyone who donates blood at the event will be entered into the blood drive sweepstakes to win a pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII Feb. 2 at the stadium.

Those who volunteer also will be able to tour the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee’s “Huddle Shuttle,” the first mobile tour associated with a Super Bowl. It includes the Vince Lombardi Trophy and displays an array of football memorabilia.

Donors are encouraged to register in advance for the drive and select a specific time that is convenient for them, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors can sign up by clicking on the “Mega Drive” gold star at www.njsave3lives.com.

The “Blood Drive Tailgate” is being co-chaired by the New Jersey Commissioner of Health Mary O'Dowd and Kevin Rigby, U.S. country head of public affairs and vice president of public affairs for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. --Joseph Passantino
