JERSEY CITY-- Current Ward F City Councilwoman Michele Massey was defeated Tuesday night by Diane Coleman. The special election was closely watched since Massey and Coleman were backed by the two candidates running for mayor in May 2013.

Massey, who was appointed to her Ward F seat, was endorsed by Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy. The winning Coleman was backed by Ward E City Councilman Steven Fulop.

Fulop and Healy will face each other in next year's mayoral race.
