Activists who feed the homeless community that has sprung up around the Journal Square Transportation Center said Thursday that a homeless man known as Keith has died.

According to activist Riaz Wahid, a member of the Jersey City Homeless Advocacy Group, Keith was admitted to Jersey City Medical Center on Wednesday night and died in the hospital Thursday morning.

In recent years, Keith was interviewed several times by the Reporter regarding homeless issues in the city. He is survived by his life partner, Yvette Wilson, who is known as “Mom” around Journal Square.

Advocates are planning a memorial in Keith’s honor. Details are not currently available. – E. Assata Wright
