Every year during Hockey Weekend Across America, USA Hockey urges its local affiliates to honor its hometown hockey heroes. The Bayonne Rangers and the Bayonne Hockey Association Inc. have always embraced this suggestion, recognizing that it takes many little acts of heroism to make a successful hockey program.

This year’s winners of the Russ Harvey Adult Hometown Hockey Award were vital parts of the BHAI organization’s efforts to introduce the joy of hockey to young players. They manned the Saturday Learn to Play hockey clinics and the Sunday House League. The 2013 BHAI hometown hockey heroes are the BHAI ambassadors to the BHAI newest members. USA Hockey congratulated and thanked Jerry Bolstein and Phil Castellano on being named this year’s Russ Harvey Award winners.

The BHAI hometown hockey hero award winner for players went to Giovanni Russo, who continued persevering at games even when Hurricane Sandy derailed his efforts.
