To the Editor:

When the fire raged throughout the building, Joe Hurley rushed in to save Bayonne lives and property.   When Hurricane Sandy struck Bayonne, the senior citizens of our community at the Back Bay Gardens Complex received their meals in a timely manner because Councilman Joe Hurley traversed the twelve floors of the massive complex delivering the seniors meals.  When his father, Deputy Fire Chief Albert Hurley, passed away, he made sure that the firemen’s picnic for our special children continued on an annual basis.  When Lincoln School needed a volunteer assistant basketball coach, the old point guard for St. Peters University dusted off his old playbook.  I now possess total comprehension in relation to the election campaign flyer from the last municipal election that depicted Joe Hurley in his deputy fire chief uniform and the words, “always there when you need him.”
