Hotel stays to be given to Bayonne residents bothered by bridge noise

City residents living adjacent to the Bayonne Bridge road-raising work will receive vouchers for short stays in area hotels, according to a published report.

Those living nearest the bridge will receive a packet later this month outlining the hotel voucher plan, The Jersey Journal reported.

Some neighborhood residents have complained about the noise and debris from the project.

The vouchers would be good for short stays at hotels in Hudson, Essex, and Union counties.

Oresko School fundraiser at Winners on March 14

Nicholas Oresko School will be holding its annual fundraiser, "Eat, Play, Win!" at Winners/McLoone's, 400 Route 440, on March 14 from 7 to 11 p.m.

The fundraiser will offer a variety of high-end raffle prizes and a 50/50 cash prize.

Tickets are $55, and include a hot/cold buffet, unlimited beer and wine for two hours, soda for four hours, a $5 betting voucher, and a track mentor to help attendees place bets.

Fifty percent of race bets will be donated back to the school.

All tickets must be purchased in advance by emailing or by calling (201) 993-3888.

The event is sponsored by ShopRite and Walmart of Bayonne.

ID card program for seniors on Feb. 12

Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari will visit the Back Bay Gardens, 535 Ave. A, on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 10:45 a.m., to provide seniors with their free “Ident-Adult” cards.

The Sheriff’s Office provides the photo identification cards to county residents age 50 and older.

Mayor Mark Smith and Assemblyman Jason O'Donnell are also expected to attend.

High school gearing up for Dr. Seuss musical

The Bayonne High School Drama Junior group will present “Seussical Jr.” on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at the school.

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and other favorite Dr. Seuss characters are featured in the musical.

Flea market at old firehouse and senior center

The Hudson County Animal League is holding a flea market at the old firehouse and senior center, 27th Street and Broadway, on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tables rentals are $10.
