A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church on Jan. 6 for Thomas Boyd, 89. He passed away Dec. 31. A lifelong resident of Jersey City, Thomas attended St. Peter’s College and was employed as an accountant for the Abex Corporation in New York. Upon leaving Abex, he worked for the Jersey City Police Department, retiring in 1995. Thomas was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving two tours of duty and earning medals including the Campaign, Asiatic Pacific and Victory medals. Thomas was a member of the Jersey City VFW and a longtime and active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.

Thomas was predeceased by his brother David Boyd and sister in law Pauline Boyd. He is survived by his longtime friend and companion Ida Del Rosso, good friends Susan Beekman and Fatima Trindade, as well as many friends throughout the parish community and city. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
