To the Editor:

The members of the Bayonne Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Senior Citizens Organization would like to thank the Bayonne Police Department’s K-9 Division for coming to a recent meeting. Police Chief Ralph Scianni introduced K-9 P.O.s Eugene Urbanowicz, Charles Nadrowski, P.O. Timothy Sullivan and canines Rocco and Dylan.

Police Officers Urbanowicz and Nadrowski told us about the program which trains canines for police work followed by a demonstration of just a few of the canines’ abilities, including looking for narcotics or bomb devices in suspicious packages. The officers answered many questions.

Chief Scianni is very supportive of this program and his staff and we thank him for allowing us to see them in action. We thank him and Police Officers Urbanowicz, Nadrowski and Sullivan as well as Rocco and Dylan for a very informative and interesting demonstration of the value of the K-9 Unit. We realize how important this program is and appreciate their service to our community of Bayonne.
