NeighborWorks America has announced that Carmelo Garcia, Executive Director of the Hoboken Housing Authority, is one of 50 leaders selected for the NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence in Community Development Program, conducted in conjunction with Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

“This prestigious opportunity will help to build on my experience as a community development professional,” said Garcia. “This opportunity will allow me to learn from others who have deployed these best practices to provide the best quality living for its residents and explore ways to revitalize public housing in this amazing city.”

Established in 1949 during President Harry S. Truman’s administration, the Hoboken Housing Authority is the largest provider of very low and low income housing in Hoboken.
