President Lincoln once said “The people know their rights and they are never slow to assert and maintain them, when they are invaded.” While there was resistance offered on my ability to run for this coveted position of Assemblyman, I remained true to the will and desire of the people, as well as, democracy. I have been privileged and honored to serve this great city in the last 15 years of my involvement to change public opinion, so that government can be changed to best suit the needs of residents. I have many milestones to be proud of in being the first or youngest public servant to tear down barriers for progress. I have been fortunate to be a proud product of our public schools and the Hoboken Housing Authority. As a school board member I have championed many great initiatives and policies. As the former Director of Health and Human Services, I established a track record of accountability, efficiency and delivering results.
Even though my naysayers may not want my representation I will still be there for them as their servant leader. I’ve been blessed by God to have been the 1st in my family to have received a bachelor’s from Seton Hall University, a dual master’s degree from Stevens Institute of technology, completed leadership and human resource management certifications from Rutgers, Cornell and now Harvard’s JFK School of Government. I have always said that it’s about caring for and serving others that fuel my actions and devotion. I attribute those past and present accomplishments to my work ethics and 4D model: “I am driven, disciplined, determined and diligent” in everything I do to make a difference in the communities we love.
I thank you for being a part of my journey as this is a natural progression for me. In my professional full time capacity as Executive Director of the HHA, I remain deeply committed to my work as we continue to revitalize our community with a vision and plan. Serving as a state legislator is a part time policy making position that gives me the ability to introduce and advocate for statewide policies that can shrink and improve our government.
My mission and platform includes securing more post-Sandy funding for restoration, mitigation and housing, expanding early childhood programs in education, youth development issues like the summer training employment program to keep teens busy, managing elderly and disabled persons issues, supporting commerce, commutership-transportation and job creation.
I was honored to have been chosen by a great leader Senator Stack to run with him and received universal approval from the Hudson County Democratic Organization. My focus will be to get things done (GTD) and fight each day for democracy, equality and morality. So on June 4th I ask for your vote to elect myself, Senator Stack, Raj Mukherji for assembly and my Column B team. I thank you for the honor and trust.
