Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced that the Division of Recreation’s chess club will now hold practices twice a month until May. The club will meet on the first and third Saturdays each month, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Recreation Senior Center, 597 Broadway. The club is open to Bayonne residents, boys and girls, ages six to 17. Beginners and experienced players are welcome. The chess club will prepare players for the fall and spring tournaments run each year by the Division of Recreation. Chess Master Joe Lux will be running all practices and the City of Bayonne will provide all the chess boards. There is a $25 annual membership fee. Chess players may register in the Division of Recreation in City Hall, Room #13, 630 Avenue C. For further information, please call Pete Amadeo at (201) 858-6129.
