A funeral mass was offered for Mary H. Duffy, 96, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away Feb. 27. She was a graduate of Seton Hall University and received her MS from Columbia University in Library Science. Mary was employed by the Jersey City Free Public Library for over 40 years, retiring as Assistant Director. She was instrumental in founding the Bookmobile and the outreach program to Spanish speaking residents. Mary was a member of The Teresians, Odd Volumes Literary Club, Abercrombie Guild of Christ Hospital, The Jersey City Women’s Club and was a long and faithful communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. Mary was the wife of the late Hon. Paul J. Duffy; stepmother of Paul J. Duffy, Jr., (Angela) and the late Anne Rooney (Charles A. Jr.); step grandmother of Sara Greene, Katherine Carillo, Charles A. Rooney III, Margaret Behymer and Brian Rooney; also survived by 8 step great grandchildren. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
