Tickle of the heart
“It was a tickle of the heart that you can’t scratch,” said Patrick Kennedy, 84, about how he knew he was in love. He met his wife, who was working as an usherette at a Loews Theater in the Upper West Side, right after he got out of the Army. He extends his love to all, wishing a “Happy Valentine’s Day!”

How do you know you are in love? What are the telltale signs? For some it may have been love at first sight – the heart racing, palms sweating – a sense of simply knowing, feeling, and thinking “this is the one.” For others it may have crept up unknowingly, appeared unsuspectingly, and come as a bit of a surprise that the one who always stood by was meant to be their forever love.

A number of Secaucus residents shared what love means to them.
