Dear Editor:

I am writing on behalf of the Hoboken Family Alliance, a volunteer driven organization dedicated to helping Hoboken families connect to each other and their community through fun activities and events for the whole family. We share information, mentor new moms, promote local business, effect positive change in town and are committed to raising our families in Hoboken.

It all began about six years ago with 10-12 mothers meeting in Elysian Park. We now have over 350 member families including born and raised, newcomers, pregnant women, adoptive parents and people with kids in the Hoboken public and private schools. Some of the many things the Hoboken Family Alliance provides to its membership include a monthly newsletter, contact lists and events for children and parents. Some of the things the HFA provides the community include a website: Hobokenfamily.com, visits with the Hoboken seniors, the Birthday Club at the Homework Center, organized donations to local charities, information on public and private schools and advocacy for open space and childrens' activities.

Over the past six years we have met with City Officials on numerous occasions requesting and receiving such things as increased park maintenance, repairs to the play equipment, an Art in the Park program and a seat at the table for various park and open space committees. The Hoboken Family Alliance is very proud of its record of remaining non-political and in the ability to maintain good working relations through two Administrations, with all Council members, different Department Directors and various local citizen groups.

During this election season in Hoboken, there are many similar sounding names of different organizations and "tickets". The Hoboken Family Alliance is not connected or affiliated, in any way, to any other group or organization. The Hoboken Family Alliance just wanted to remind everyone that we are first and foremost a non-partisan volunteer family organization. We wish everyone a good, clean, thoughtful and thought provoking election, and we look forward to continuing our work connecting Hoboken families and community.
