The new season begins on October 4 with entertainment by Mark the Magician. On November 1, Puppet Theatre Inside and Out with Steve Abrams offers a fun introduction to the world of puppetry; December 6 will feature the Holiday Troubadours with Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa music plus storytelling, step-dancing, and folk instruments. The new year will be ushered in on January 3 by Super Circus Stuff, with juggling, balancing, plate spinning, boomerangs and more. The schedule for the rest of the 2009 season will be available next year.
All programs are held at the Library (500 Park Ave.) and begin at 2 p.m., taking place either in the third-floor Children's Department or the second-floor Reference Room. These free programs are open to all, and parents/guardians of very young children are encouraged to stay with their youngsters for the duration of the programs.
The Friends of the Hoboken Public Library, a volunteer group that supports the library with financial and non-monetary contributions, has sponsored the First Saturday program for the past three years. To learn more about the Friends, visit www.hobokenfol.org.
