Dear Editor:

This letter is in regard to “Hot Property” written by Al Sullivan. He reported I live in the Van Vorst Park area, I lived there for 40 years but moved in 2012 partially due to the traffic. As an example, two days after this ordinance passed, my husband and I were stuck in traffic two blocks from this development site. It took ten minutes to go from Montgomery and Jersey to Bright and Jersey which is just two blocks. Unfortunately, it was 3:00 p.m., the time the four schools in that area were dismissing students.

Councilwoman Osborne said, “We didn’t run to do away with abatements.” I can only state, that her predecessor, now Mayor Fulop did not vote for waterfront or downtown developments, he did not make a distinction. He repeatedly stated these abatements were not needed.

Let’s face it; homes in that area are selling for more than $1 million. So no one believes that area is in need of redevelopment.
