Dear Editor:
In response to "It's 3 a.m. and I must be groggy", in the Dec. 2, 2001 issue. I hear you! I cannot stand the loud, rude and drunk people that pour out of our local bars and scream and carry on. I mean, what is with the screaming?
I don't know where you live, but I live across the street from the 2nd Street parking garage between Hudson and River (yes, near the Police Precinct.) When I call to complain, the response is "it is a busy night" or "okay." Is anything done? No.
About a year ago I complained about this issue in the Hoboken Reporter, and I wrote letters to then Mayor Russo and the local police department. Mayor Russo addressed the noise issue by having people pay on their way into the garage, which made them flow out quicker when they left, and there were patrol cars nearby. He also kindly responded to me in writing and by posting a letter in the Hoboken Reporter. This cut down the noise issue considerably. What happened? The noise sign is still up. How many summons have been issued?
I feel so sorry for residents who have their property urinated and defecated on. It is just disgusting. If these people are that drunk to do these things, are they truly in condition to drive safely?
