A funeral mass was held April 11 at St. Joseph’s on the Palisades in West New York for Albert Armando Leon, 89, of North Bergen. He passed away April 6. He was the husband for 55 years to Olga; father to Fabiola Leon-Catalano and her husband Frank of Ringwood; and uncle to three nieces and seven nephews. Born in Aguado de Pasajeros, Las Villas, Cuba, the oldest of four brothers. He graduated cuma sume laude from the University of Havana. He earned a full scholarship to New York University, where he obtained his CPA degree. Albert returned to Cuba where he married and had a daughter. Following the onset of the communist revolution, he and his family became refugees. He and his family first emigrated to Spain and then settled in the United States. He became a United States citizen in 1973. He was employed for many years at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, where he rose to the position of head comptroller, a position he maintained until his retirement in 1994. Albert was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s on the Palisades RCC in West New York. Services arranged by the Morgado Funeral Home, Union City.
