HOBOKEN – Fred “Freddie” Moret, who worked for the city of Hoboken since 1977, most recently serving as superintendent of parks, passed away on Friday. He was 54.

Moret was on a trip to Italy organized by his parish, St. Francis’ Church, when repeated asthma attacks led to a fatal heart attack, said a City Hall employee.

In addition to working on the city’s parks, he also worked in the municipal garage and served as a commissioner on the city’s Shade Tree Commission.

According to a report on Hoboken Patch, Moret’s body will return to New Jersey later this week. Funeral arrangements will be made by Failla Funeral Home.
