A funeral mass was conducted June 28 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Jersey City for Charles J. Mariski. A retired member of the JCFD, he died at 86 on June 25 at his residence in Jersey City, where he was a lifelong resident. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 at the age of 17 and was assigned to The Navy Air Corps as an aerial gunner. After the war he was employed by The Jersey City Central Railroad for 9 years. He then became a Jersey City Firefighter, serving for over 25 years, before retiring 30 years ago. He was married for 62 years to the love of his life, Mary E. Coen Mariski, who survives him; also surviving are his sons, Stephen C. Mariski and his wife Laura, Mark J. Mariski and his wife Denise, and William A. Mariski and his wife Julie; one sister, Patricia Carley; six grandchildren, Lisa Kearns, Alexis Schroeder, Mark Mariski, Jr., Julia, Michele, and Sarah L. Mariski; and three great-grandchildren, Landon, Jaedon, and Erin Kearns. Services arranged by Routh Funeral Home, Jersey City.
