To the Editor:

I was hoping my story would be heard and possibly just find some much-needed assistance. I am currently a terminally ill Bayonne resident. I have applied for public housing at the senior/disabled building at 22nd Street and Avenue A. I was told it would be six months to a year to be placed. That was well over three years ago. I unfortunately now live at the Bayonne Family Community Center, since I lost my job, due to the decline in the state of my health. Since living here I have befriended quite a few people. What’s perplexing and honestly hurtful is to see at least three I can name who applied not even a year and a half ago, and be placed in the same building. I have been patiently waiting. Yes I have and do check frequently and even spoke several times in person about the matter. Each time I speak with them, the story is oh, we are just waiting on a unit for you. I know that there are and have been studio apartments empty but still nothing. I ask if anyone with the authority and a conscience could help. It would be a Godsend!
