These days, Gerrino's is among the most acclaimed restaurants in Hoboken, offering dozens of Italian dishes to be consumed in an intimate atmosphere.
"I give directions to people coming from everywhere," said owner Angelo Cerrone last week.
"Westchester, down the shore, Pennsylvania. Now with the Internet, we have a web site. Many people come to eat on the rooftop. It's a special spot."
The rooftop opened two weeks ago because the weather was warm, and it will be open from now on in favorable weather.
The menu boasts more than a dozen hot and cold appetizers ranging from $7 to $12, more than 40 entrees ranging from $13 to $24 and 14 desserts ranging from $4 to $6.
Lots to choose from
My friend and I started off with stuffed mushrooms with prosciutto and cheese ($9) and a special, stuffed pepper ($9). We eagerly consumed the six tasty mushroom caps and the delicious, sweet pepper, which was quite tender.
Then it was on to entrees, and choosing was difficult because of the number of selections.
There were more than a dozen pasta dishes, including four ravioli dishes, not to mention fish dishes, grilled meat dishes and yet another page of "main courses."
