Special Dolphins splash their way to victory at local swim meet

The four (4) – Member Contingent, representing the Bayonne recreation Dolphins Special Olympics Swim Team turned in outstanding performances at the recently – held 2014 SOHC/Area – SOBC/Area 12 Dual Swim Meet. The event was contested at the Bruce D. Walters Recreation Center Pool (in Union City) and the results follow:

25-M Freestyle: 1st Place – Elaina Walsh

50-M Freestyle: 4th Place – Elaine Walsh; 2nd Place – Kaitlyn Frey, Ian Hudacko and Jovanni Torres.

100-M Freestyle: 1st Place – Ian Hudacko

25-M Backstroke: 1st Place – Jovanni Torres

50-M Backstroke: 1st Place – Kaitlyn Frey

100-M Backstroke: 1st Place – Kaitlyn Frey

25-M Butterfly: 1st Place – Ian Hudacko

50-M Butterfly: 1st Place – Jovanni Torres

The Dolphins’ afternoon was capped-off by the two (2) Silver-Medal winning relay teams;

4x25-M Freestyle: Kaitlyn Frey, Elaina Walsh, Jovanni Torres and Ian Hudacko.

4x50-M Freestyle: Elaina Walsh, Kaitlyn Frey, Jovanni Torres and Ian Hudacko.

The Dolphins were accompanied to the meet by their coaches, John Valdora, Theresa Diaz and Tom Moody, who were ably assisted by Sheila Hudacko, Ed Broderick and Tony Torres.

The Dolphins have qualified to participate in the 2014 SONJ North Jersey Sectional Swim Meet on Sunday, April at Seton Hall University (in South Orange, N.J.).
