NORTH BERGEN – Administrators at North Bergen High School released a text this week saying that a note was recently found written on a school desk threatening to “shoot up the school on 6/6/14,” NJ.com reported.

School officials are taking the threat seriously. The text of a phone message from Principal Paschal Tennaro states numerous actions that the school and police will be taking to secure the students’ safety, including increasing police presence at the school on Friday.

According to the text, students are being instructed to clear out all lockers by this afternoon and not to bring any book bags to school tomorrow. Teachers are advised to inspect all closets and desks at the end of the day today and lock them. Police will conduct a canine inspection of the school prior to opening tomorrow and students will be scanned by metal detectors upon entering the building.

Anyone with any information on the threat is urged to contact the police or school officials. All tips will remain confidential.
