As you know, it is election time and you are receiving information about all of the candidates running for office. I am supporting the entire Healy Team and I would ask you to do the same. I truly believe they will represent the residents of Ward B, and the entire city, with integrity, honesty, compassion and passion.
One candidate I strongly support is Councilwoman-at-Large, Viola Richardson. I have known Viola since 2000, when we both ran on Mayor Glenn D Cunningham’s ticket. I had the distinct pleasure of serving on the Municipal Council with Viola from 2005-2009 and I can assure you she will fight for what she believes is right for the residents of our city. She is a tenacious advocate for everyone she represents and she is not afraid to make her position clear.
Viola started her political career as councilwoman in Ward F, but, her community service started over twenty-five years ago when she became a Jersey City police officer. She has been fighting for safer streets and community outreach ever since. Viola advocated for CCTV cameras in her ward to assist with addressing crime in her ward and they have proven to be very successful. This was a project I also strongly supported when I was on the council and the cameras I requested in 2008 are now being installed on West Side Avenue; they have been installed on Lexington and Union Street so far. I know Viola will work with the city to continue to expand this program.
As Ward F Councilwoman, Viola supported projects throughout the city. She understands that every ward has to move forward and develop in order for the entire city to prosper. As Councilwoman-at-Large, Viola has continued to be a strong advocate for recreational programs for our children, a strong police presence in our community and cleaner streets. I know these are all quality of life issues the residents in Ward B are concerned with as well.
I hope you will support my friend, Viola Richardson for Councilwoman-at-Large, on May 14, 2013. I believe her dedication and commitment to the residents of Jersey City will only grow stronger if she is re-elected.
