Violet Malcolm leads Special Panthers to victory at local track meet

Violet Malcolm led a 13-member contingent representing the Bayonne Recreation Panthers Special Olympics Track & Field Team, by copping three first-place ribbons at the recently held 2013 SOHC/Area 1 Track & Field Meet. The event was contested at James Braddock Park (in North Bergen.) The results follow:

100-m Walk: Fourth place: Debbie LeSane and Michael Walsh; Third place; Dennis Driscoll and Barbara Mari; Second place: Sierra Battle and Jody Czucza; First place: Elizabeth Wentworth.

400-m Walk: Fifth place: Debbie LeSane; Fourth place; Sierra Battle; Third place: Jody Czucza; Second place: Michael Walsh and Elizabeth Wentworth; First place: Dennis Driscoll and Barbara Mari.

800-m Walk: Second place: Jody Czucza and Barbara Mari; First place: Sierra Battle and Elizabeth Wentworth.

Shot-Put: Third place: Francheska Huentelaf; First place: Violet Malcolm.

Softball Throw: Fourth place: Michael Walsh; Third place: Dennis Driscoll and Debbie LeSane. First place: Nicole Bawiec, Samantha Ciemiecki and Francheska Huentelaf.

Turbojav: Third place: Ronald Beniatez; Second place: Roger Belanger.

100-m Dash: Fourth place: Samantha Ciemiecki; Third place: Roger Belanger; First place: Nicole Bawiec, Ronald Benitez, Francheska Huentelaf and Violet Malcolm.

200-m Dash: Third place: Nicole Bawiec; First place: Roger Belanger, Ronald Benitez, Samantha Ciemiecki and Violet Malcolm.

The team’s afternoon was capped-off by the First and Second Place finishes of their relay teams. In the 4x100-m Walk Relay (Jaguars), taking home a blue ribbon were: Barbara Mari, Elizabeth Wentworth, Jody Czucza and Debbie LeSane. On the other side of the track the 4x100-m Relay (Panthers), took home a second place finish. The team was comprised of: Roger Belanger, Samantha Ciemiecki, Nicole Bawiec and Ronald Benitez.

The Panthers were accompanied to the meet by their very proud coaches, John Valdora, Denise Bawiec, Tessie Diaz and Tom Moody. The Bayonne Recreation Special Olympics Teams (Aquatics, Athletics @ Bocce) will be competing in the 2013 SAONJ Chapter Summer Games, in early June at the college of New Jersey.
