The Fourth of July came early to Secaucus this year, celebrated on Tuesday, July 3. The celebration, which started at 6 p.m. and lasted until about 9:45 p.m. at the town pool, had residents sitting back and enjoying the sun before the firework show began.

Although there aren't any exact numbers, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell said that there was a "very large amount of people."

"[The event] was open to any member of the pool and any residents," said Elwell.

Children of all ages could participate in any number of activities, from a rock climb, to an inflatable moonwalk, to an inflatable water slide.

At the entrance to the pool, tickets were handed out for food including hot dogs and chicken.

"We've never been disappointed," said Mona Tortora, a resident of Secaucus for seven years.

"The music's good," added her husband John. "They have to figure out a place for parking, but I'm sure they'll work it out."
