The Woman’s Club of Weehawken honored four of its longest-serving members on June 9 at its installation dinner for new officers at the Weehawken Nutrition Center.

Frances Jones, Ruth Elsasser, Marie Alberian and Lillian Martinelli have a combined membership in the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs, Weehawken Chapter, of over 200 years.

They were instrumental in preserving the Palisades from commercial encroachment, especially in Weehawken, which has the strictest zoning laws of all the waterfront communities.

Dinner was provided by Lorraine’s Table, and a proclamation was read from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs for the group’s 95th anniversary as a federation club.
