This weekend, the Hoboken Reporter had two unusual stories about the Hoboken schools: In one case, there is a gang problem at the Hoboken Charter School, and some are partly blaming it on Jersey City kids who are enrolled. In another story, a man says that his son's elementary school may have sent DYFS after him as revenge for a complaint. The school board election is over and suddenly schools are out of the limelight, but tell us what you think - have you heard about any of the alleged 29 gang incidents involving the Charter School and Demarest kids this year? What can be done? And what are some of the positive things going on in the district? Let us know! Comment below! (To read the stories, go to http://www.hudsonreporter.com/pages/hoboken.)

But in general for Hoboken BOE issues, if the new school board candidates can't 'say or do' anything about this in a week we should think twice about voting for Zimmer? Who should we be more inclined to vote for for mayor instead based on one week's BOE results, I wonder? That whole point seems to reek of the same ridiculous spin about the mayoral election that the same poster is complaining about elsewhere.
school election's over, no one cares, least of all the new board.
The bigger question is where are the very vocal criticial school board candidates now that they are on the board and why are they keeping silent about these issues?
We kept hearing from Maureen Sullivan on every website thur-out the campaign complaining about issues like kids watching amadeus [during a music class...] but meanwhile there are 29 gang incidents in the last 6 months and a father feeling threatened and a principles office ransacked and she is not interested or raising the issue. I guess if its not her kids she doesnt care.
hello is anyone out there or now that your elected it doesnt matter to you/
What is the NEW hoboken board of education diong about these problems? I hope someone steps up to the plate. IT shouldnt fall to a newspaper reporter to bring this to our attention, it should be board members with their priority straight.
