HOBOKEN – Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced Tuesday afternoon that Hoboken’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on a Wednesday next year, rather than Saturday. The move came after the city endured criticism for the amount of drunkenness during Saturday’s parade, which served as a focal point for young people from around the Tri-State area to come in and drink at the city’s bars and at numerous house parties. The bars were allowed to open at 9 a.m. just for that day.
Two rapes were reported to police this past weekend, enhancing the criticism.
We will be posting a longer news item about Zimmer’s press conference at www.hudsonreporter.com momentarily. Also, see related links below.

As a taxpayer I resent that one dime of my tax dollars go to cleaning up after drunks, who by the way, are actually encouraged by the ridiculous bar opening time.
No bars should e open until AFTER the parade is over so that civilized people and their children can SAFELY enjoy the parade and not be subject to someone vomiting on their shoes.
Unless you change this, it won't make a difference what day of the week you schedule the parade.
