SECAUCUS AND BEYOND -- The town of Secaucus is looking ahead at Super Bowl 2014, which will be held at Giants Stadium. The town will vote on a resolution during Tuesday night’s council meeting to form a Super Bowl Committee that will help the town attract the expected onslaught of visitors to the restaurants, hotels, and businesses that Secaucus has to offer.
Mayor Michael Gonnelli said the town reaps the most benefit from the Super Bowl given its location and expects the event will have a big impact on the town.
Also, Secaucus continues to push ahead with an environmental focus with several items on the agenda related to sustainability and green initiatives. The town received a recycling tonnage grant in the amount of $45,524.78 from the state, which appears in a resolution as a special insertion to the budget. The town will vote on a resolution to form a “Green Team” that will include representation from the Board of Education, council, and members of the community to come up with new ideas related to sustainability. Councilman James Clancy will head the committee.
