Dear Editor:

In the past couple months, I have noticed the amount of doggie poo left on the sidewalks and grass in Hoboken has grown exponentially. We all have to live with the economic crap these days – must we live with the literal crap too?

Just yesterday while walking my two dogs, I witnessed a dog owner in front of me stand idly by while his dog pooed on the sidewalk; then he walked away. In the past, there would have at least been a little embarrassment – maybe a shrug and an excuse in my direction – “I ran out of bags.” This time, nothing. This is really becoming a problem.

I’m making a plea to dog owners to please, please, please be responsible and pick up the poo. No one loves doing it but it’s part of being a dog owner. Otherwise, potty train your pet.
