The eighth wonder
What's the deal with Mardi Gras beads? - Troy
According to the Fat Tuesday website, beads are the currency of Mardi Gras. Legend has it that if you throw a strand to a woman, she'll show you her breasts.
Final rest
I've lived in Hoboken for six years and I never knew that the "Rest" in Oddfellows Rest stood for "final rest" and not "restaurant" (Phat Tuesday: Mardi Gras descends upon Hudson County, Feb. 22). You learn a new thing every day. - Joshua, Hoboken
That you do!
Cheers
What's in a hurricane - the New Orleans drink, not the weather system? - Stacey
According to Liz Stirling, co-owner of Oddfellows Rest, a hurricane consists of two types of rum, a dark red punch, and lime juice. It's served in a pint glass and garnished with an orange and a cherry. Cheers!
Rock on
I saw that band Skyrocket on Friday night at Maxwell's and they were great! Thanks for last week's article ("Retro Rock: Skyrocket comes to Maxwell's.") Without it, I would have never known about them. - Ethan, Hoboken
That's what we're here for.
I will survive
I was so sad when Mitchell Olson was kicked off Survivor. He seemed like a really nice guy. I wish him good luck. - Theresa L., Union City
We're sad too. The "Mitchell Oslon Update" was fun to write.
