Dear Editor:

On behalf of the American Cancer Society and the planning committee for the Fifth Annual Hoboken Relay For Life, we would like to thank the residents of this inspirational town for their generosity and support. Over 35 teams and 300 people spent Saturday May 19 walking spiritedly around Pier A to raise $74,000 and a lot of hope for the American Cancer Society.

We're intrinsically grateful to the 20 survivors who opened the event by walking the Survivor Lap, as community members, friends and family honored them with applause. We'd like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the event a success - without you, we would have never made it to this point. And, finally, we would like to thank this year's sponsors and donors for their generosity and, particularly, the City of Hoboken.

But we're not finished yet! We challenge you the Hoboken community to help raise an additional $19,000 by August 31! You can make a difference in this fight against cancer by making a donation at acsevents.org/relay/nj/hoboken . And we'd love for you to join us in a celebration of life at our Ceremony of Hope and Wrap Up Party at the Shannon Lounge this Monday June 11 at 7 p.m. We'll honor and remember those we know who have been touched by cancer, and we'll celebrate the continued success of the Relay For Life of Hoboken.

All funds raised through Relay For Life support the fight against cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. If you or someone you know is diagnosed, the American Cancer Society wants to help. Call 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit them at cancer.org .

With sincere gratitude,
2007 Hoboken Relay For Life Planning Committee
