JERSEY CITY - Students at New Jersey City University (NJCU) will gather on campus Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. to protest the $9 million reduction in the Tuition Assistance Grant Award, the state's largest financial aid program, which was included in this year's state budget.
The gathering will take place at NJCU's Professional Studies Building.
Student speakers will also express disappointment with Gov. Christopher Christie and area legislators who supported the FY 2011 budget, including state Sen. Sandra Cunningham and Assembly members Ruben Ramos and Caridad Rodriguez, who represent many of the students that commute to NJCU.
NJCU students and a professor will speak, as well as a representative of Better Choices for New Jersey Campaign. - Ricardo Kaulessar
