Public gets say on $130M Bayonne budget with tax increase

BAYONNE -- The Bayonne City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed $130 million 2011 fiscal year budget on Feb. 9 at 3:30 p.m. in the council chambers, Avenue C and 27th Street.

The budget will result in a tax increase of 3.9 percent, and will need to raise $69.4 million taxes, up from $66.8 million last year. The result will be an increase in the municipal portion of the tax bill of $118 per quarter on an average house assessed at $133,000, or from $2,090 per quarter last year to about $2,208 this year.
