HUDSON COUNTY -- The mayors of West New York and Weehawken are hoping to bring Formula One racing to their waterfront streets as early as 2013, according to the Wall Street Journal and NJ.com.

They have been in talks with racing investors, including former TV cable network head Leo Hindery, NJ.com said.

The race would run annually on River Road and Blvd. East, so that it would show up on TV with the New York City skyline in the background.

F1 fan as I am, I'll believe it when I see it. These events need lots of space, as at Liberty State Park, which turned the idea down.

To both sides with cogent arguments, may the best win. But just wait, there'll be a flood of imbecile comments from mouth-offs who know zero about Formula 1, like "Rednecks and hoodlums'll come to see it!, as stupid as suggesting that cowboys and farmers will come to see English-Show-Jumping, or dockworkers to watch the Americas Cup. Or they'll say, "People will be killed and bad crowds will come see that!", ignorant of the fact that the last Formula 1 death was 17 years ago, and before that 8 years. Little League baseball can't boast that.

One more stupid idea for making streets of Hudson County even more of a problem. But I suppose with racing cars on the streets, we can expect these cities to finally fix the pot holes, even if it will be impossible for ordinary people to drive on them during the days of the races.
