To the Editor:

On behalf of the Gary La Pelusa Association, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making the 3rd Ward Celebration Day on Saturday, Sept. 17, such a success.

Let me start by thanking Director Gary Chmielewski and the Public Works employees and Director of Recreation Pete Amadeo for getting the park ready so the event could take place. Also thanks to the president of the association, Ursula McGurrin, Vice President Cherie La Pelusa, Secretary John Budnik, Treasurer Vincent Angrosina, Lance Krubner, and Tom Solari for all their hard work and dedication; as well as Chief Rogers and Don Haiber from the Bayonne Fire Department, who kept the fire museum open for the afternoon.

The day would not have been possible if it not for the entertainment: Patricia Graham, Walter Pilger of the Rockerfellers, D.J. Express, and Eddie O’Rourke as Elvis. All of your performances were wonderful. Thanks to all the sponsors: HJ Duch Allstate Agency, Cresci Law Firm, Hudacko’s Pharmacy, Resnick’s True Value, Judicke’s Bakery, Antonio & Vincent’s Bakery, Uptown Blimpie Base, DeLuca’s Confectionary & Sports Cards, Herbert’s Army & Navy, Alex & Terry’s Deli, Vics Auto Body, Little Food Café.

I would like to thank all the attendees who made our 3rd Ward Celebration a huge success. It was great to celebrate where we live and work and see so many familiar faces. Dr. David G. Morris Park on the corner of 47th Street and Broadway was the perfect place for our event. I would hope that the success of this event would allow other groups and possibly the local schools to utilize the park for other activities and celebrations. We hope everyone had fun.

GARY LA PELUSA SR.

Standard Bearer
