HUDSON COUNTY – There’s lots of detailed stories you haven’t read anywhere else in the various editions of the Hudson Reporter newspapers this weekend. You can pick up your print edition around town this weekend, or come back to this website starting Sunday and scroll down your town’s page to read what’s up.

The Hoboken City Council appointed David Mello as a commissioner on the Housing Authority by a 6-2 vote, with Councilwoman Beth Mason joining the majority in a rare moment of amity, leaving the discordant remarks to her minority faction colleagues. Public amenities are on the way back in Hoboken, and we have stories on the reconstruction of Sinatra Park for all your soccer fans, and plans to expand the Hop bus shuttle for those who’d rather ride than walk and don’t want to hassle the parking.

Jersey City has taken a small step towards becoming a two-wheel friendly city by creating the city’s first bike lane along Grove Street. And the City Council may take a large step towards economic justice this week with a new ordinance requiring a better pay scale for low-wage workers employed at city buildings.

In the West New York Reporter we have a story about the painter who was the favorite artist of Barbara Bush and Donald Trump, and a charming story about a group of Girl Scouts who have organized an event for autism awareness inspired by a brilliant young scout sister.

The North Bergen football Bruins won a squeaker last week – not on the gridiron, but with the NJSIAA controversies committee, which ruled the team can keep the North Jersey Section 1, Group IV state championship they won in breathtaking fashion last December. The school principal, athletic director and guidance officers, however, will be on probation for the next two years.

All this, plus Jim Hague’s incisive sports reporting and the always-provocative Al Sullivan’s ‘Between The Lines.’

So pick up a copy of your town’s edition of the Hudson Reporter newspapers and read more about what’s happening in your town than you’ll find anywhere else.
