Dear Editor:

Recently the Hoboken Fire Dept. conducted its annual Toys for Tots Drive. On December 19, 2008 the Hoboken Fire Dept. visited the Hoboken University Medical Center and visited those children in the hospital and gave each child a Christmas gift. We also left behind a bunch of toys for those who may have been admitted after we departed. The HFD also visited those families who were victims of the 1201 Hudson St. fire and lost everything and in some cases, had to be relocated. There were several families who received numerous gifts for each of their children.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the firefighters and staff who donated a portion of their paycheck towards the purchase of the toys. I would also like to thank the members who volunteered their time to help organize this drive. Finally, I want to thank all the Hoboken residents who donated the toys for this drive.

This annual drive has been a great success over the years due to the constant generosity and support from all the members of the Hoboken Fire Dept. See you next year!
