Doyle has spoken out about development and open space issues in Hoboken -- at meetings, in letters to the editor, and in this interesting story from several years ago.
Doyle will take a seat that opened up at the last meeting when Councilwoman Carol Marsh announced her resignation for personal reasons.
At the meeting, the four council members aligned with Mayor Dawn Zimmer voted for Doyle. That means that allies of Zimmer retain a five-member majority on the nine-member council. Councilwoman Beth Mason was absent.
Members of the council minority attempted to protest the interpretation of the municipal law that allowed the council to vote on Doyle Wednesday night.
At the meeting, school board candidate Pat Waiters spoke about letting the people vote. The minority council members said the same thing.
All of the arguing took place while Doyle was to be sworn in. Finally the council congratulated Doyle after 15 minutes of comments and objections.

The rich and litigious Mason has often tried
and failed to use this route to sabotage Hoboken and advance her own failing political career.

Councilwoman Castellano even had to admit despite her usual eyerolling that she had no problem asking that her cousin Michael Russo be appointed to the City Council after his father resigned his City Council seat.
Shortly after his resignation from the CC Anthony Russo was charged by the Feds, plead guilty to multiple felonies, was fined over a hundred thousand dollars and sent to prison fro his crimes against the people of Hoboken.
Didn't Marsh and Soares voted for Russo because they felt there should be balance on the council?
Funny how things change now that Zimmer wants absolute power it is okay to have no balance. Especially after running around screaming to get petition signatures about letting the people decide.
Cunningham said it himself last night, the administration needs a 5th vote. Nothing like machine politics!
The vestiges of that corrupt time are still with us.
We should not allow them continue to harm Hoboken.
Zimmer's hand picked replacement on the City Council met at a diner with a developer, voted for the developer's zoning variance, and then cashed two $500 checks from the developer.
Zimmer took money from a JC Candidate whose campaign account was linked to Solomon Dwek.
Zimmer makes Russo look like an amateur!
Marsh and Cunningham ran from the building a few months ago to prevent a quorum because they believe in rubber stamp government.
Zimmer is NEW BOSS in town!!!
