Funeral mass was offered Feb. 1 at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hoboken, for Beatrice A. Pereira of Hoboken and Wayne. She passed away Jan. 25. She was the most gracious, unselfish, soft spoken woman who has been a blessing to so many people she encountered in life. She was the matriarch of her family which she cared for so many years. She loved being with her family and loved going to the Malibu Diner with her good friends. She was a wonderful mother to her son, Joseph J. Pereira and her late daughter in law, Arlene Pereira of Key Colony Beach Florida; her daughter Agnes McDermott and her husband, Neil McDermott of Wayne. She was the wife of the late Lieutenant, Joseph A. Pereira of the Hoboken police department.

She was the daughter of the late William and Mary McDonough of Hoboken; sister of the late Eleanor Schoor, Anna May, William, James, Thomas, Robert McDonough, and the sister in law of Joyce McDonough of Rego Park, New York; grandmother of Joseph and Gregory Pereira, the late Suzanne Pereira, Kevin, Keith, Scott, and Brian McDermott, and their wives. She also leaves 11 great grandchildren. All of her nieces and nephews had joyous times with her. She was the light in everyone’s lives that met her and loved her. She will be so missed. She was a childhood friend with Alice Growney of Hoboken who was the best friend anyone could have as they shared tea in the evenings with Pauline Miglionrino and Beatrice. In her younger years she worked diligently at Shoup Owens in Hoboken. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
