Back in 1999 when I joined the Hoboken City Council, I fought hard against many of the actions and policies of the Russo Administration. Dave Roberts, Ruben Ramos and I were also objective and fair by supporting many of their good initiatives.
Now we have a different Mayor, a slightly different Council and a very different financial situation.
Overdevelopment rages on, citizens must still retain lawyers and our structural deficit just got bigger.
And the past few months of financial mismanagement have finally come home to roost. All of which leads me to an important endorsement, on Tuesday I urge all my constituents in the 3rd Ward to cast their vote for a hard-working young professional by the name of Michael Russo.
While some may think me supporting a Russo is out of character for a reform politician, he's exactly the independent voice Carol Marsh, Terry Castellano and myself need as a fourth vote to what I believe will be a total collapse of our city's financial future.
I fully understand the issues surrounding Michael's dad, but no verdict has been made nor will I hold a son accountable for the actions of a father.
